Good Steamy Start To Series

This book launched straight into the steamy scenes. If your looking for a book with run of the mill sex scenes then this is not going to be for you. To clarify my rating it is a 3 1/2 star review but it felt too low to give it only 3 stars.

The premise of the book is a down on her luck chef having applied for a position believing it to be a chefs position when in actuality it was a position for a sex slave for 3 brothers on an island for 6 months. The story itself wasn't actually bad. The one issue that I did have with it however was the fact that a relatively innocent woman, within minutes/hours of meeting 2 of the brothers launched straight into the role without too many reservations. My other gripe would be that the story that was going on with regards to Grey, one of the brothers, could have been fleshed out more in able to understand more about that character and the events that occurred towards the end of the book.

This is an good introduction to a new author and a good start to a series. I'm intrigued to see how the story will progress following the ending of this book.

My one complaint about the book. It. was. too. short. LOL

I liked the setup of the story though. A passable chef takes a lucrative job that promises a lot of cash a fast. For someone whom life has given blow after blow, Ivy takes the opportunity and sees it as a fresh start and a way to clear the skeletons from a dismal past. Ivy will be the personal server to the uber rich Stone brothers. Only, Ivy doesn't understand the "server" part until she reaches the wintry island where they are holed up for six months. Very quickly, Ivy instantly realizes that the services she is required to render are completely sexual. The only sizzling that the brothers really want her to do is in the bedroom or bathroom or any other surface they can devour her on. When Ivy first arrives she meets West, the affable one, and Magnus, the brooding one. The instantly take charge of her body and reality and they heat her body up in a way that she never expected. The trio live in a sexual haze for several weeks. The Stone brothers serve up more pleasure than Ivy has had in her life. Through all of it though, Ivy puts the fact that there is a third Stone brother in the back of her mind. Well, that is until he storms in the house and captures Ivy like a caveman. Gray pummels Ivy's body with pleasure and she loves it. As feelings grow between the quad, Ivy knows that she is falling in love with the men. But that all changes the day Gray's past catches up to all of them and rips Ivy away from them. The. End. Seriously people...the book ends in a cliffy. I was shaking my Kindle because I wanted to know more. I need to know what happens between Ivy and the brothers NOW! LOL

There's something special about this book

It's funny ... when you watch good porn -- and there is such a thing as "good" porn, as opposed to the majority of the crap that has no substance whatsoever -- you know it. You get pulled into the stories. That makes it fun! If you can relate to any of the characters, you can almost live vicariously through them. The same thing happened with Frozen Ivy. It transcended typical porn and evolved into something surprising, something you can sink your teeth into, if you'll pardon the S&M pun ... One reviewer here got it right when he or she suggested it leaves Shades of Grey in the dust. Frozen Ivy is what porn should be about: fun and titilating and downright hardcore hot and wildly erotic. You want to enjoy yourself along the way, right? This story is the way to go. Lose yourself in some hot, steamy sex while enjoying an honest-to-goodness plot!

I was very disappointed with the song selection for this book - there's ...

I was very disappointed with the song selection for this book - there's way too many Fleetwood Mac selections and not enough from his time with John Mayall. I believe out of the 13 songs here, only two come from the Mayall period - as opposed to 8 from Fleetwood Mac (and 3 solo songs). Most of the Mac songs have already been transcribed elsewhere, and this could've been a nice opportunity to finally transcribe some of his classic Mayall songs. And some of the Mac songs here, really aren't worth putting in the book. Long Grey Mare, is pretty much a simple riff, that's repeated over and over for the whole song.

However, I did give it two stars, since it was finally nice to get a transcription of The Supernatural. Although it's hard to justify buying a whole book just for one song.

About the Author
Stephen Arroyo (born October 6, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American author and astrologer. Arroyo has written seven books on psychologically oriented astrology which outline his theory that the individual's experience of the Solar System's impacts on their personal energy field, both psychological and physical. His works recast astrological concepts in psychological terms, and reject what he perceives as the fatalism and negativity of old-fashioned astrology. His books have now been translated into 20 languages. Regarding his written works, the Library Journal stated: "The simplicity and clarity of his treatment of complex ideas is remarkable; it makes accessible even to the beginner a wealth of understanding....giving meaningful psychological grounding to astrological interpretation."[citation needed] Arroyo has been guest speaker at events in the North America and Europe, and has taught astrology courses in the United States. He has been awarded the British Astrological Association Astrology Prize, the Fraternity of Canadian Astrologers' International Sun Award, and the United Astrology Congress's Regulus Award. He has an honors degree in literature from the University of California and a Masters Degree in Psychology. Previous occupations include marriage counseling, and the practice of a homeopathy and polarity therapy.

Marshall holds a B.A. degree from Purdue and a Masters of Library Science from Vanderbilt University.

WOW! An essential book for understanding the components of a chart.

If you're a "one stop shopping" kind of person, then this book is for you. Everything you need to know about interpreting a chart is included from the usual rising, sun and moon placement to details on elements, aspects, and trines. It is plainly written so the novice will understand. However, if you're advanced, it may be too simple. I'm not an advanced student in astrology, I've always been intimidated by astrology and have stuck to my cards. Recently I wanted to understand more about the subject as it is a component of reading cards. This book may be all I need. If you're new to astrology, or only have a very rudiment understanding, I would highly recommend this book.

if i could only own one astrology book, this would be it.

I love the size and portability of this book. It's not like a thick heavy phone book, remember those? Every word is a nugget of precise, spot on, astrological gold. The author packs his wealth of astrological knowledge into this easy to use volume.

Excellent reference book

As a new student to astrology I appreciate Stephen Arroyo's straightforward style. Easy to read and easy to understand, Arroyo breaks down chart interpretation into the basic elements of astrology.
If you are familiar with Parker's Astrology, this book is totally different. While Parker's is very detailed, a sort of encyclopedia for astrology, this is a much smaller volume that gives general guidelines. Arroyo deliberately kept things general. Evidently he thinks it's best to think in broad terms and to only deal with the essentials of a chart when interpreting it. By teaching us the basics of astrology Arroyo helps us do that. I see Arroyo's book and the Parker book being very complementary--being a new student I appreciate what each has to offer.
This is a great place to start of you are serious about understanding the fundamentals of astrology.

Mighty thoughts that can shake your life!

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read. I know that many people don't like to read essays of any kind, but all I can say is that Ralph Waldo Emerson is simply different! Nobody has the gift to write essays and analyze life like him.
His words and ideas are so powerful and deep that we soon realize that they didn't come only from a brilliant mind, but also from a warm-hearted soul!
That's exactly what this book is about: Its sentences break through your brain and penetrate right into your soul! Emerson's optimistic view on human beings and life can only reinforce our courage in mankind and, especially, in ourselves!
What else can I say? His speech is direct, he defends all the good values, tell us to have confidence in ourselves and show us that passing through life with dignity is a matter of choice and courage, and that it simply doesn't change with time. It was like this a thousand years ago, it will probably follow the same rules a thousand years f! ! rom now.
This is the book I grab to comfort my spirit when I'm having difficult times... :) It is a guide that make us believe that anything is possible when we really want it! " Self-Reliance ", one of the essays inside this book, is a masterpiece in its own and I believe it should be studied in every high school, instead some of the crap we are usually obliged to read!
This book can shape your spirit and your mind. It is also possibly THE BEST self-help book you could ever own and, yet, a great literary work.
I would rate this book as ageless and I'm sure the future generations will be still interested in it, in the same way we are in those ancient Greek and Roman texts.
This is precious culture and food for your soul as a bargain! Do not waste more time. READ IT!!!

Could have been written yesterday

The first time I read "Self-Reliance," I didn't. It was assigned summer reading before my senior year AP English class and I was too busy golfing and playing pick-up basketball to waste my summer on a book written by a dead guy with weird sideburns. At age 23, I read it the second time, printing out a public domain edition using a temp job's laser printer then plowing through it on my lunch break. This week was my third time to read it and by far the most valuable thanks to the Domino Project's beautiful new special edition.

Stunning design by my friend Alex Miles Younger places all of Emerson's original text on the right side of the page in this slim 73 page volume, with notable pull-quotes from the book as well as complementary and supplementary quotes from famous people on the left side. OK, fine, it's a bit ironic that a book that preaches you needing to think for yourself highlights the lines that you SHOULD think are the most important. Except for the fact, those ARE the most important lines. They were to me at least.

I somewhat always dismissed and ignored Emerson because I thought he was like his friend Thoreau, who I kind of hate. But, whether it was because of my age or this special edition, "Self-Reliance"--finally!--resonated with me on this third read like few books have ever before. (It could be a fitting companion to my beloved Meditations (Modern Library) even.)

"Self-Reliance" is truly a book about artistic confidence and belief in one's own genius: "To believe your own thoughts, to believe what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, that is genius." It's a book about not sitting around waiting for someone else, someone anointed, to say the things you want to say: "Else, tomorrow a stranger will say with masterly sense what we have thought and felt all time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from another." Devastating, and often so sadly true.

"Self-Reliance" preaches that one force himself to reject the conformity around him if he truly wants to live: "...for he who does not postpone his life, but lives already." It wonders why we're scared to bring our deepest, most private thoughts out into the real world: "These are the voices which we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world."

You're betraying yourself when you're not letting your voice be heard and I'm reminded of both poet Alexander Pope and pimp Iceberg Slim.

Alexander Pope who said: "Whatever is, is right."

Iceberg Slim who said: "Chumps prefer a beautiful lie to an ugly truth."

Don't be a chump. Quit lying to yourself. We all lie to ourselves and to the public far too often. We need to stop doing that. We need to believe in ourselves, worship at our own altar, be our own philosopher. No one can do a better job of teaching you to be you...than YOU.

"Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."

This book could have been written yesterday.

Get Ready for Deep

Get ready for a different reading experience. I mean, actually thinking while you're reading, because you'll see different kinds of words and they'll be in a strange order than what you're used to. This book wasn't written yesterday. You're in a different time and place when you read this one.

And that's what makes it so much more meaningful. You're reading poetry (what else would you expect from Emerson?) which means that every word was carefully chosen, and each sentence has a deep meaning. You'll feel different after reading this book, as if you've been traveling through time and finding treasures of wisdom that have been preserved for us today.

I appreciate the layout of this book where each left page (as the book is open faced) contains large red print of a key quote that is also highlighted in red on the right page where it is placed among the rest of the text. This actually helped me read it and glean the main points.

The other reading help from the publisher (The Domino Project) was a quote on every other page from a variety of notable individuals that correlated somewhat with the message Emerson was conveying, except it was in language easier to digest. This helped clarify the message and made it sink in better for me.

I shouldn't start quoting the book because I could go on and on, but here's one to give you a taste:
"Insist on yourself; never imitate. Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life's cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another, you have only an extemporaneous, half possession."

By just typing that sentence, I understood it better. Every sentence is like that.

It's not a long book, 73 pages, and half of those contain the Emerson text. The other half are the highlights and quotes from others I mentioned. But it will take you a lot longer to read this book than others because you will need to read slowly and repeat many sentences as you go in order to discover the meaning. Well, that was my experience anyway. And even though it may have been difficult, it was one of those good kinds of pain where you get more out of it because of the effort involved. You can do it. It's good for you.

This is an excellent guide for teaching students the basic structure of the language. The acquisition is perfect for students in college. Specifically, the presentation is geared toward developing writing skills to critique high quality literature in the English Composition and Literature courses, as well as writing across the curriculum.

Excellent book

I taught the upper-level developmental writing courses, and this is one of my favorite books. The instruction is lively, clear, and concise--yet jam packed with information. So many students struggle with writing introductions, conclusions, and thesis statements. Unlike most books that jam all three topics into one chapter, this book breaks it down into three separate chapters with very clear, interesting examples and exercises to help you develop the skills and the craft of writing.

I often advised my students to hold on to this book when they leave my class and move on to Comp 1 and 2; the lessons here will them through to the more advanced courses. When I tutored comp 1 students in the lab, I'd introduce them to this book and told them, "If you don't understand a concept in your current book, turn to the appropriate topic in this book and work on those exercises.

The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I didn't like the grammar section all that much.

About the Author

Stephen Brooks is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Windsor, where he teaches in the areas of Canadian politics, public administration, and American politics. Fantastic, well-tuned book

This book is remarkable. It covers nearly all the basics, without going into unnecessary depth, and therefore is very appropriate for board exam purposes, and also, to gain a quick, well-tuned footing on the basics of nuclear medicine. Not a good dummies book

A 'dummies' book is supposed to be written for a person that has no knowledge of the subject. This book is a poor example of that. It assumes, for instance, that you already have a correct installation of SQL server. It does not go into the installation process at all. Many of the 'features' are specifically mentioned followed by a sentence that 'I don't cover XX in this book. For people who are going to look through the table of contents, this is totally misleading.. These are a few items that are 'shown' in the table of contents that this book specifically does NOT cover. Installation, the Profiler, T-SQL, online indexing, Online Page and File Restore, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Full Text Search, SQLCMD.. Many other features are just briefly described.. To look at the table of contents you would think this book covered it all. I give it a DON'T BUY based on it deceptive practices alone.

It's OK

It's OK is the name of a Beach Boys's song from 1976 and in computer terms, a 9 year old piece of software might as well be 35 years old like the song. I just got it because it was cheap and I wanted to learn about stored procedures. It is still on my shelf as a reference book.

I agree with the previous reviewer. This book is not focused and not targeted to an audience. Most of the features are not covered with enough depth and background to make the information useful. The chapter on replication, which is an advanced feature, was pretty good, but the chapters on backup and recovery where poorly explained.
